"With the rush of day-to-day life, it is difficult to find a moment of real space to reflect and replenish the spirit," says Redmond's artist-in-residence Lucia Neare, "Prelude to a Moon offers us space to take a contemplative journey. A space to breathe."
The floor of the Heron Rookery is covered with blankets, and the evening is punctuated with mini-performance surprises and participatory offerings by ensembles of Gnomes, Mice, and Bears. Audiences are invited to wander in and out as they please – and to dream away the evening in this grove of contemplative delights.
A great Stag sits at a grand piano at the heart of an illuminated labyrinth beneath a chandelier that would make Liberace jealous. This virtuosic creature serenades audiences with nocturnes, waltzes, and sonatas.
