This sculpture is a memorial to Iona Silverman, purchased and commissioned by her husband Alan Silverman. Iona was a Mercer Island resident for 27 years. She raised three children and had many friends on the Island. She was described by those who knew her as an “extraordinary woman”.

Mark began carving with a pocket knife when he was just 13 years old. In high school he was writing poetry and short stores. While working as a mine engineer he developed a love of stone. Mark is particularly respected for his work in granite.
This sculpture is located near the picnic shelter in Aubrey Davis Park.
