Commemorating Auckland's contribution to the First World War, this trail reveals hidden stories of people and places all around the region.

Auckland remembers

Auckland's role in the First World War

Welcome to your guide to Auckland's First World War Heritage Trail. This trail was established by Auckland Council to commemorate the way people in the wider region were affected by and contributed to the First World War, and to reveal some of the surprising local stories - all related to places you can visit. The trail is not intended to be followed sequentially or as a walking trail. Delve into your own area of interest, explore the trail by theme, or visit sites of significance to your local community.

Out of the 56 sites on the trail, interpretive signage has been installed at 47 sites. These are a mixture of permanent and temporary signs that will remain on site until 2019. This app will grow and develop during the 5 years of commemorations between 2014 and 2019 - make sure you check in regularly to uncover more stories.
