For boaties arriving now

Do's and dont's

Yachts and launches arriving from Auckland will often make Matiatia an overnight anchorage on their cruise. While Oneroa Bay, Palm Beach and Onetangi are favoured anchorages in SW winds, Matiatia is more sheltered if the wind turns to the north. Putiki and Rocky Bays on the southern side are also a sheltered anchorages.

At Matiatia, visiting boats are required to anchor outside the ferry lanes. For transferring passengers ashore, or topping up with water and fuel (there is a self-pay fuel station), boats must use the northern wharf, and are allowed to tie up alongside for half an hour only.

The wharfinger at Matiatia, who is responsible for the managing of wharves and boat traffic to them, can be contacted on 021 784 698.

There's a floating dock at Kennedy Point, for loading passengers. Private pleasure boats can tie up here for half an hour.

Fresh water can also be obtained at Orapiu Wharf. Please be careful of the tidal stream at this wharf.
