The Impossible Steps are the latest addition to the front lawn at Puzzling World, unveiled in 2014.
Like its bigger neighbours, the Tumbling Towers and Leaning Tower of Wanaka it's another example of a "folly", or a building that seemingly has no purpose.
From the side, the steps seem to float off the ground and give a great perspective of the steps and towers behind (as in the photo)
From front on, a diminishing perspective gives the illusion of much grander staircase leading away from the photographer.
The steps replaced a box on this spot put in place solely to allow customers the chance to photograph themselves seemingly getting "poked" in the backside by The Leaning Tower!
This particular shot is still possible, along with many others using the follies as a prop - refer to the Photo Opportunities board near the steps.
